Today, my dad was going to take our whole group on a whale watching tour. We dressed in the warmest clothes we had and met in Depoe Bay, only to find that the water was so rough that the company determined it was too unsafe to take us out.

We had some disappointed (and therefore very bored) kids, but after watching one of the fishing boats try to come in, I’m glad I wasn’t out there!

Instead, we wandered through Depoe Bay’s shops, then went to see the Devil’s Punchbowl – an amazing site.

Afterward, we went to Beverly Beach State Park and visited with my sister and get to know her in-laws (AMAZING people!) who welcomed us to their RV camp site and let us all hang out for the afternoon and have some much-needed downtime.

Back to Mo’s for dinner – delicious fish & chips and clam chowder – will I ever be able to eat inland seafood again?

The hardest part of the day was saying goodbye to my dad. Our visit was much too short and it was the first of many goodbyes I knew I would inevitably be making on this trip.
