There are just some days that bedtime is my favorite time of day. As humans, we are all entitled to have good days and bad days but what does a family do when we all have the same bad day? The most useful piece of advice I can offer is to keep a sense of humor! Remember to laugh and there is always tomorrow!!
I think that as parents it is important to realize that our kids can have bad days too. And in their worlds their childhood issues can be just as devastating to them as an adult’s. I always try to remember that their friendship woes and homework scares can become larger than life to them. We must not minimize how they feel but as a parent show them how to manage the days that aren’t so great.
We have to set good examples for them on how to deal with stress and challenges. We can accomplish this by not only providing guidance to them in their situations, but also leading by example. Our kids watch everything we do as parents and how we handle ourselves and the challenges we face every day. Providing tools and help with this at an early age can prove to be an invaluable gift that you give your children. And at the end of every day when the kids are tucked in tight, don’t feel guilty for being glad it is bedtime!
