Getting Real With Jennifer Proctor

Becoming healthier should NOT be about getting into an unattainable size, losing a certain amount of weight or never eating certain foods again. Becoming healthier begins by making a conscious decision to do so. We all have been bombarded with what we should be doing. We all know exercising twenty minutes a day, three times a week is healthy for all of us. So, how do we get there? What exactly can you do?

Start small. Start moving a little bit more each day and all the little things do add up; taking the stairs, parking further out in the parking lot, or walking around the soccer fields instead of sitting while your child is at practice. These types of small steps can be the beginning to feeling better and consciously becoming healthy and fit. Try new things; be open to the idea of change. Try a new group exercise class at a local gym or rec center or through a park and recreation department. There’s an endless of things you can do. I know it can be difficult to break out of the normal routine of your day, but soon, you’ll have a new normal and new routine. Keep a mental note of how you feel, what time of day do you feel best, and what kinds of exercise is the most beneficial to you. Some like the gyms, some don’t. Some of us find walking to be the thing we do, some of us ride a bike. It doesn’t matter how we get moving, just move a little bit more each day.

Many times we must work our days around lots of schedules and activities, but take some time to be healthy…you deserve it! And your family deserves a Mom who feels better, is happier and who will be healthy enough to be around for a very long time. You CAN do it!!
