Getting Real With Shadra Bruce
We are traveling for 33 days this summer with three kids in a minivan. While we’re not insane, we are certainly taking every precaution to ensure we don’t go insane along the way. After completing three long-distance (2,000+ miles) moves, we know what we’re doing.
The kids need to be entertained on the longer driving days (there will be several: we are traveling 6,540 miles). Entertainment to our 12-year old and 9-year old means iPods, Kindles, and other devices.
Devices that typically run on batteries.
Devices whose batteries dwindle 2-3 hours into the trip, leaving 4 or more hours of “Are We There Yet” blues and a strained neck for me as I spend half the time turned around in my seat breaking up arguments and mollifying the bored passengers with food.
Not this year.
This year, we have the Portable Power Bank 6000 from MyChargePower.com. This tiny little powerhouse sells for $99.99 and has built0in Apple, Micro and Mini USB connectors and a full size USB connector that makes it easy to charge just about any device you might need. The rechargeable 6000mAH battery pack will recharge most smartphones four times and still have enough juice left to charge an iPad or other tablet and a Kindle.
MyChargePower.com claims the Portable Power Bank 6000 will extend your talk time by 24 hours, give you 34 additional WiFi hours, 34 more video hours, and 137 hours of music. While we haven’t completely maxed it out yet, it did charge my smartphone completely, recharge my daughter’s iPod, and operate the USB-powered fan on my laptop for more than 6 hours.
This year, I’ll be able to arrive at our destination each day without a crimp in my neck from spending most of the day turned around in my seat. My kids will be plugged in and happy, recharged and entertained, thanks to the Portable Power Bank 6000!
