It is a strange feeling to realize that we have entered a new stage in our parenting lives. We decided to take advantage of a free admission ticket for our family to go to a local children’s museum. The kids had really enjoyed a presentation that was done at their school and just could not wait to go see this museum. Unfortunately, we had more of an adventure trying to find the museum than we did once we got there. Not that there is anything wrong with this museum, it just was geared toward younger children than ours. We sort of walked through and looked at some of the things but you know the kids are bored when they ask to leave, “No offense, but this is for babies!”
It just made me realize, once again, how fast they are growing up! When I had babies and small children I remember there were times that I wished them old enough to do this or that activity, and now they are at the stage where they are actually too old for some things!
It is a real challenge to take life one day at a time and enjoy the place that you are currently at but it is moments like these that remind me how little time we really have left with our children in the house. Days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months, and then before we know it years have passed faster than I ever thought was possible.
So for the moms out there that are having sleepless nights with your babies, or the moms that are exhausted from chasing after your two or three-year-olds, please try to enjoy the stage of life that you are in with your children. Before you know it they will be all grown up and you will long for the days when you could cuddle and rock them to sleep or run after them as they giggle and laugh just knowing that you will swoop them up in your arms!
