Getting Real with Shadra Bruce
For the last year, MomsGetReal™ has been growing and evolving into an amazing community of women and moms who are motivated to make a difference for their families, their communities, and in the world. It has been an amazing, humbling, and incredible experience for me to watch this small idea grow into something so spectacular. We’ve partnered with some amazing people and we are supporting some incredible organizations, like the Army of Women.
I, for one, would not be able to dedicate the time and effort I do to MomsGetReal™ without the support of my family, particularly my husband, Dave, who tolerates every crazy picture I post (often with him in them) and every intimate secret I share in my efforts to help women know that no matter what they’re going through, they’re not alone.
Dave, who has been my partner on a number of projects and co-authored a weekly newspaper column with me for 2-1/2 years, is my inspiration as a parent. He is a teacher, a mentor, and a person children of all ages look to for support, guidance, and strength.
That is why it is my pleasure to introduce you to DadsGetReal.
“Dads need a sounding board,” explains Dave. “Dads need resources, ideas, and someone to talk to about issues that dads face at home and in society. DadsGetReal offers an online community in which dads can share with one another. Dads can vent, learn, and bond with other dads who share the same desire to embrace all that comes with being a parent.”
Welcome to the family, DadsGetReal!
I always thought that with the mom blogging boom dads were left in the shadows. So, I really think it’s time for dads to step in and show their ‘power’. Such an excellent news – welcome Dave, welcome DadsGetzreal!
