ARMY of WOMEN

The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and the Avon Foundation for Women, a global leader in breast cancer research, joined forces to launch the Love/Avon Army of Women.

Our revolutionary initiative has two key goals:

  • To recruit one million healthy women of every age and ethnicity, including breast cancer survivors and women at high-risk for the disease, to partner with breast cancer researchers and directly participate in the research that will eradicate breast cancer once and for all.
  • To challenge the scientific community to expand its current focus to include breast cancer prevention research conducted on healthy women.

Join us in this movement that will take us beyond a cure by creating new opportunities to study what causes breast cancer—and how to prevent it.

The Partnership for a Drug Free America

The Partnership at Drugfree.org

The Partnership at Drugfree.org helps parents prevent, intervene in and find treatment for drug and alcohol use by their children. We are a national leader in the effort to reduce drug use and drinking among teens and provide the necessary tools parents want to help them protect their kids from risky behaviors.

Bringing together renowned scientists, parent experts and communications professionals, we are a public health nonprofit organization that not only translates current research on teen behavior, addiction and treatment into easy to understand, actionable resources at drugfree.org, but also offers hope and help to the parents of the 11 million teens and young adults who struggle with drugs and alcohol.

The Partnership at Drugfree.org helps parents connect with one another though our online community, tap into expert advice for children of all ages and find support in their role as the most important influence in the lives of their kids. Embracing the power of the web to communicate and connect, we ensure parents find deep, credible and science-based resources to help safeguard their families from the dangers of substance abuse.

Visitors to drugfree.org will find resources to help them:

  • Prevent – for parents who need help talking with their kids and offers tips and tools promoting effective parent/child communication about preventing substance abuse in their families
  • Intervene – offers step-by-step guides for parents who believe or are certain their teens are using drugs or drinking and need to know what to do
  • Get Treatment – comprehensive web resources, featuring treatment support and expert guidance for parents of a child who is struggling with addiction
  • Recover – includes ongoing assistance for those who are living in recovery and their families
  • Community Education – We reach local families through our community education programs, now in more than 24 states across the nation, including PACT360, which focuses on issues of concern for parents, youth and the Hispanic community.

Our grassroots programs help educate concerned citizens about the changing drug landscape, mobilize them to address emerging drug threats, promote parenting practices to prevent teen substance abuse and engage teens via our innovative youth initiative. Through our affiliate program, we also work closely with leaders in state and city agencies responsible for addressing substance abuse – and along with local prevention coalitions, we provide ongoing technical assistance and necessary materials to tailor our research-based public education campaigns to meet the needs of each affiliate.

The Partnership at Drugfree.org is one of only 13 organizations worldwide to receive the prestigious Discovery Health Medical Honors award for extraordinary contributions to world health. The Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance officially certified the organization for complying with their 20 rigorous standards for responsible charity operations and governance. The New York Times has called us “one of the most effective drug-prevention organizations in the United States.”

We are grateful to our many partner agencies and nonprofits who help us reach parents across the country with life changing information. These include, but are not limited to, the Treatment Research Institute, National Association of School Nurses, National Military Family Association, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, The Y, and federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

The Partnership depends on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations and other contributors.

The Partnership at Drugfree.org thanks SAG/AFTRA, the advertising industry and our media partners for their ongoing generosity.
