Jennifer Poole is a Benefits Administration Supervisor and Compensation Consultant for the Claims and Benefits Administration Department for the State of Idaho. She has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Boise State University and is an Idaho Certified Professional Mediator (CPM), Certified Mediation Trainer and Certified Idaho Workers Compensation Specialist.
In 2006, Jennifer was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer at the age of 35. She kept her motivation during treatment not only by thinking about her family but also with the mantra – “Fake It Til You Make It,” telling herself that she was too much of a control freak to let cancer run her life. She completed treatments in December 2007 and now advocates awareness about breast cancer in young women and the importance of exercise in preventing reoccurrence.
Jennifer works part-time as an instructor/personal trainer for the YMCA’s cancer survivorship exercise programs and volunteers with Relay for Life. She assists in peer reviews of breast cancer grant applications for the US Department of Defense. Jennifer comes from a family of breast cancer survivors, including her grandmother, who was diagnosed a year before Jennifer, at the age of 95 and again at 98. She was born and raised in Boise and seeks to enjoy all the area has to offer each day with her husband and four children.
